Cliff Richard – Millennium Prayer

When we did a series on the Lord’s Prayer I wanted to use Cliff Richard’s Millenium Prayer but took a long time to track down what I thought was the best version. I can no longer find it on YouTube, however it may available on a VHS video (maybe now on DVD) called The Lord’s Prayer in the series Open House Open Bible from Trinity Vision. However there are lots of versions of Cliff Richard singing this on YouTube.

Lord Is This A Sign?

Norman Cates shared the humorous story of a guy who prayed this prayer every morning: “Lord, if you want me to witness to someone today, please give me a sign to show me who it is.” One day he found himself on a bus when a big, burly man sat next to him. The bus was nearly empty but this guy sat next to our praying friend.

The timid Christian anxiously waited for his stop so he could exit the bus. But before he could get very nervous about the man next to him, the big guy burst into tears and began to weep. He then cried out with a loud voice, “I need to be saved. I’m a lost sinner and I need the Lord. Won’t somebody tell me how to be saved?” He turned to the Christian and pleaded, “Can you show me how to be saved?” The believer immediately bowed his head and prayed, “Lord, is this a sign?”

Are you looking for a “sign” to start witnessing? It can be found in Matthew 28:19-20 and Acts 1:8.

And now – O glorious and blessed God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – You are mine… and I am Yours. So be it! Let this covenant, which I make here on Earth today, be ratified in Heaven. In Christ’s Name, I pray – Amen.

Someone Else

We are all saddened to learn this week of the death of one of our church’s most valuable members, Someone Else. Someone’s passing created a vacancy that will be difficult to be. Else has been with us for many years, and for every one of those years, Someone did far more than a normal person’s share of the work. Whenever leadership was mentioned, this wonderful person was looked to for inspiration as well as results: Someone Else can work with that group.” Whenever there was a job to do, a class to teach, or a meeting to attend, one name was on everyone’s list- Someone Else. “Let Someone Else do it” was a common refrain heard throughout the church. It was common knowledge that Someone Else was among the largest givers in the church. Whenever there was a financial need, everyone just assumed Someone Else would make up the difference. Someone Else was a wonderful person, sometimes appearing superhuman; but a person can only do so much. Were the truth known, everybody expected too much of Someone Else. Now Someone Else is gone! We wonder what we are going to do. Someone Else left a wonderful example to follow, but who is going to follow it? Who is going to do the things Someone Else did? Remember-we can’t depend on Someone Else anymore!
